Standards for Progress in the Major
The continuance requirements represent the minimum standards for a student to continue as a business major. A student is limited to 24 credit hours of business courses unless he or she is a College of Business major and has satisfied the minimum continuance requirements listed below:
Please note: Transfer students should complete this requirement prior to enrolling at Illinois State University - course options at the community college include completing equivalents of any of the following courses: ACC 166, ITK150, or an IAI BUS 902 equivalent.

The University Registrar's office has Course articulation guides for Illinois Community Colleges.
Students who have met all College of Business continuance requirements have a special coding that allows them to enroll in upper-level business classes that may exceed 24 business hours. The records of business students who have not yet received the advanced continuance coding will be assessed prior to each registration period and students will be notified of their status.
This assessment will electronically scan all College of Business majors who have earned at least 43 semester hours but have not yet been coded as a continuing major. Students DO NOT need to file an application.
If you question anything about your continuance status, seek advice/clarification from the College of Business Advisement Center (COB 129) prior to your advanced registration date!
Through a competitive and selective process, students are evaluated for progress in their major from a pool of qualified applicants on the basis of individual qualifications. The standards for progress represent the minimum standards for a student to continue as a business major. Thus, some students who satisfy the minimum standards may not be allowed to continue as a business major. The college reserves the right to maintain a balanced enrollment; the number of students who continue in the major may vary from year to year depending on major capacity and the qualifications of students in the pool.
